About

I’m a Dutch photographer (f), based in one of the most crowded parts of the Netherlands. To escape the city stress, I often go back to the coast, where I was born and where most of my favorite creatures live.
For me photography is about expression, creation and communication.
Besides taking pictures, I like to write, mainly about nature. (roeselien.wordpress.com (NL)) Enjoy my work and if there’s something you want to know about me, just ask…

PS. I’m from the Netherlands and as you can see English certainly isn’t my first language:
I write in Denglish (Dutch-English) 😀

So hopefully you can laugh about my mistakes and grammatical errors and please feel free to correct me where I’m wrong…;)

  1. Hi there!

I’m a big fan of your work! (probably like the majority of the people who write to you on your website…) I don’t have any of my more recent pictures uploaded because my computer crashed and most of my good stuff literally burned with my hard-drive (I didn’t back it up…). Anyways, I was wondering if you had any tips on specific cameras/lenses that I should be looking at for outdoor/wildlife/extreme sports photography. Right now I have a NIKON D40 and the basic lens (which is crap…). I have to little ISO options, to small aperture and it’s not close to being efficient in terms of white-balance (because natural lighting is hard to work with… especially when you have water or snow in your shots… which is the case with me.).

Basically, I was wondering if you had any tips for a young student passionate about the outdoors and photography who knows how photography works but wants to got further than his camera can let him.

Thank you for taking the time to read me,

    Alexandre Flynn Simard

P.S.: To help you replace me, we once had a brief discussion about hunting and wild Deer on one of your pictures with two stags fighting.

  2. I sent a comment to your da message area b4 I found your blog!
I have never ever been so impressed by an artist, EVER!
Your work is stunning! I’m still in shock, I just found your gallery a while ago. I put a link on my facebook page to your DA gallery. I hope you don’t mind! You have a Huge fan and admirer.

  3. This is very interesting photo blog. I am wonder how much time you spent on it!?? Your photos are really amazing! Also your comments and sentences under the photos are very interesting. I am your fun!

  4. Hello Roeselien, my name is Diszney on DA, and my mother and I were just looking at all of your beautiful photos. My mother loves to paint birds, and she would like to know if she can paint one of your bird photos for her own enjoyment, she does not sell her paintings, we just hang them all in our house. May she do this and show it to you, and give you full credit for the reference and original shot?
Thank you Roeselien, and we absolutely love your work you are a stunning photographer, you capture the best of moments!

  5. Hey Roeselien,

  6. Hi Roeselien, I saw your fox pictures on a site called Bored Panda. Your name was on one of the pictures so that’s how I found out you were one of the photographers and consequently found your blog. I love the foxes, wildflowers and many more. Thanks for sharing!

  7. i am currently doing a project on you and your work in my digital photography and i have some questions about you that i would appreciate an answer to. i would like to know why/ how you became a photographer, and what type of camera you use why you use that camera, and is it a digital or analog camera.

    1. Hi Emma,

I started doing photography because I’ve always loved both nature and creating things and making photographs is a great combination of these two.
I’m using a Canon 5D Mark III, a digital camera.

Good luck with your project! 😀
      Roeselien

  8. Roeselien, thank you so so much for all your photos of foxes (among other gorgeous creatures). I love foxes and haven’t seen one with my own eyes in years. I need to figure out their haunts and get a better camera with a good lens, so I can enjoy them without intruding, like you! German is as close as I can get to Dutch – not the same, I know, but vielen Dank! EA
