2. Bohemian Waxwings in town…!

Past week I met this very friendly person in the train.
We had a pleasant conversation and it appeared he stumbled upon some waxwings that day.
I must admit I was a little jealous since i had never seen these beautiful birds in my life.
The next morning I planned to stay at home because someone was coming over to do some painting in my house.
Then the phone rang: the painter caught the flu, so he couldn’t make it today..
Such a pity…;)

I decided I could as well try my luck and go see if the waxwings were there.
And there I stood….on a very clouded day in an unknown and very unattractive area.
No birds at all.
Until…al of a sudden I heard this unknown bird sound, like ringing bells….
To my big surprise I really found them…….in the top of the highest tree in the entire area.

Fortunately the waxwings use high trees as a watching tour, but as soon as they get hungry the whole flock moves to the smaller berry trees, which brought them at least a little closer…

If only the weather hadn’t been so bad, if only my lens would have been a lot longer….
Oh well.at least I saw them, which was wonderful enough!
And maybe some day I’ll have another chance to shoot some better quality photographs….

  1. Roeselien,
    Brilliant, as usual.
I must say… I was quite shocked when you said, “another chance to shoot some better quality photographs….” (!?!)
You don’t give yourself nearly enough credit! These are magnificent photographs! I am in awe when I’m looking at your photos, and these are certainly no different! Just beautiful. You have done an outstanding job at capturing the beauty and funkiness of these incredibly awesome little birds. You have done them PROUD!
You set the bar so high with your photographic work.
Please don’t underestimate the significant contribution you make to the world of photography. You truly are a gem.

    1. Hi Manda,

      Groetjes,
      Roeselien
